ENGLAND

England. I've been wanting to revisit ever since my first trip in 1987 as a senior in high school. While that 1987 visit broadened my horizons and gave me a brief glimpse into the United Kingdom (I also visited Scotland and Ireland at that time), I was just a kid. A grunt. I can't say I didn't totally appreciate where in the world I was, but I certainly didn't embrace it, either.

This time was different. As a college graduation gift to my nephew Ben, who recently earned his bachelors of arts degree in music and education in May 2019, Ben and I ventured to England. We've been planning this trip for years, and I've been specifically building the itinerary for more than six months—an itinerary that might make even the most seasoned travel agent jealous.

For one week, June 4-11, 2019, our home base was London. We stayed at the Montana Hotel in the Kensington District, and right from the start, everything seemed to just work in our favor. From the hotel accommodations to the tours to the pubs—and with the exception of a day and a half of rain, even the weather cooperated!

Our England journey took us all around London, visiting the Tower of London, the Churchill War Rooms, Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Shakespeare Globe. Our day trips included Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Oxford, Windsor Castle, Bath, Stonehenge, Canterbury, Dover, and Hampton Court Palace. By the time we took off out of Heathrow Airport on our final day, we were exhausted. But we were certainly fulfilled and enlightened.

It is impossible to include everything of our England adventure, but follow the links below to see some of it. I highly recommend the Montana Hotel, Evan Evans Tours, Anderson Tours, Ronnie Scott's, and all of the pubs we visited. If you'd like a copy of the itinerary, drop me a note via the Contact tab above!

Note: I'm in the process of building each of the pages below. They should all be completed soon!
